UPDATE: The Seventh Kindle edition is now available for pre-order on Amazon! Visit: http://tinyurl.com/mukzald.
My publisher, Evernight Teen, has sent me the final artwork for the cover of my book, The Seventh – and it is stunning. Read on for some explanations of the elements in the artwork.
I feel that the designer has captured Mimi perfectly – her long, dark hair, with a bit of a wave through it (Mimi considers this her best feature), and her fair skin. I also like that she is a normal size – not too skinny like so many idealised models, actresses, and even book characters!
Mimi is walking towards a lake. Without giving too much away, lakes and swimming feature heavily in The Seventh. Behind the title of the book you will see a mandala or wheel that is also significant to the story. The symbols on the wheel are an eye, a hand, a heart, a quill, a skull, a star, and a pawprint.
The mistiness of the image is very evocative, especially since Mimi is a girl who knows a thing or two about ghosts.
Do let me know what you think. Do you like it? Does it intrigue you?
And the next piece of good news is that the book will be released on January 23, 2015!
Counting down….
